  1. For those wondering: 1. Blood Bowl meaning 2. Rooted = broken, destroyed. Applicable to a treeman that can't move. 3. Root = shag. Hur hur hur.
  2. The Knighty Nighties are in the Championship... there must be a method to their madness. I will find a shrubbery, the best shrubbery that has ever been found. Wanted: Shrubbery I search. I find topiaries and flower beds in the gardens of the rich. I find scrubby bushes and tangled undergrowth in the wildlands. I find bowers and thickets on the banks of rivers. But the perfect shrubbery eludes me. But my search and my dedication does not go unnoticed. I am found, I am recruited to the Fraternity, a secret order of gardeners who maintain botanical balance in the world and can bend plants with their minds. I first see this in, of all places, an abottoir. I can't believe my eyes. Then a colleague makes me bend a plant around her. She doesn't even flinch. These gardeners are crazy. I see them bend plants while driving a vehicle. While jumping off a building. Around civilians, plants colliding mid-air. Until I realise that corruption has taken root within the Fraternity. I can't complete my quest for the perfect shrubbery while under this poisonous tutelage, so I decide to take on the Fraternity and break them free. My teacher makes the ultimate sacrifice, a murder-suicide plant bending that frees me to defeat the source of the corruption. It is done. I am Chris T.N.O. Primadonna, the greatest plant-bender alive*. Plant-bender (Trait) - Treemen gain the Timmm-ber! Trait while adjacent to this player, regardless of which team he's on. Once per game this player may free an adjacent treeman that is Rooted*. This is an additional free action that may happen at any time within the player's activation. I have created the perfect shrubbery, and come to a realisation. Sure, the journey was ridiculous, but the destination even more so. These Knighty Nighties wanted me to fetch them a shrubbery. A shrubbery. Their methods are madness. I have nothing to learn of Blood Bowl from them. I gave them the shrubbery, and faded away. 'twas a silly place Beset by indecision, I'd lost sight of my dream. My best chance to play in the Championship next season is to join a Tier 1 team that will be promoted. I've had enough of trees and Take Root for now, so not wood elves. High elves pass. The only other undefeated team in Tier 1 is nurgle. Yes. I shall let a festering buboe of knowledge burst upon me. I shall watch Jump All Stars next match, watch and learn. But which should superstar/legend should I focus on? I've narrowed it down to Zenitsu, Tanjiro or Joseph Joestar. * Chortle. Triple entendre for the Aussies.
  3. Loving the effort that's gone into this team blog, and the analytical elements. Have a Press Pass award!
  4. Welcome back and good luck with the team blog!
  5. Nice consistent blogging, yo! Have a fancy fluff award
  6. Season 22 update: all equal at the top of the multi-award winner leaderboard.
  7. Bats are Back are back* for their second OCC Championship! Featuring three legendary vampires coached by Kjelstad this team enters OCC folklore as the first vampire team to win twice Vampiric celebrations happening here. General celebrations happening here. Congratu-bloody-lations @Kjelstad
  8. How many Championships have @Kjelstad's Bats are Back won? This many. Suck on that.
  9. You could've at least tagged me so I'd know about all the cool things I said.
  10. Bump for Season 23 awareness
  11. Possible starting rosters assuming rerolls are 50k. I think it's a very similar philosophy to a starting nurgle roster - maximise starting +ST players and buy the missing Gors asap. I'd probably opt for the roster with the big guy, because it's more fun. Cost Number Total Marauder 50 7 350 Khorngor 70 1 70 Bloodseeker 110 2 220 Bloodspawn 160 1 160 Reroll 50 3 150 DF 10 5 50 1000 Cost Number Total Marauder 50 7 350 Khorngor 70 1 70 Bloodseeker 110 3 330 Bloodspawn 160 0 Reroll 50 4 200 DF 10 5 50 1000
  12. I'd be happy to see them with no mutations and universal primary S access. The bigger issue, particularly for starting teams, is the cost of rerolls. With low AV, no starting block and frenzy on nearly everything, they need cheap rerolls. 50K max, surely. If rerolls cost more than that, new teams will just be a hot mess until they can get a couple of block players.
  13. Season 23 will have one extended match day (round 7, if I'm counting correctly) due to Christmas/New Years. Otherwise, we'll play as normal. Please consider whether your seasonal commitments would impact your availability before signing up, not two weeks into the season.
  14. OCCupational Therapy The Human Blitzer The longer I played, the better I got, the more I thought about what I couldn't do. It's all about opportunity costs, you know? I'm a blitzer. So I've always been pretty good at blocking. Then I got tackle, so I was even better, but you hear the whispers. No ball handling. Average build. Can't hit hard. Can't guard. I tried to ignore them, but it's not easy. I'm not good enough yet. So I trained and I played and I risked my life and I trained and I played and I risked my life, and finally I flipped a switch and took my game to a new level. Mighty blow! Bringing the pain! But the whispers continue. Still so average. Hides behind the line. Doesn't sacrifice for the team. He's not that good yet. Is he worthy of his team-mates sacrifices? The whispers become thoughts, and the thoughts are insidious. They got inside my head and they stuck there. I'm not good enough yet. The background colour is a metaphor So I trained and I played and I risked my life and I trained and I played and I risked my life, and finally I flipped a switch and took my game to a new level. Piling on! I'm the deadliest weapon on the team, no doubt. Except for the doubters, and I'm my own best doubter by now. These thoughts grow with you. Spends half the game horizontal. Glass cannon. Gets bogged down too often - can't beat opponents with block, wrestle, stand firm. I'm not good enough yet. So I trained and I played and I risked my life and I trained and I played and I risked my life, and finally I flipped a switch and took my game to a new level. Juggernaut! Now I'm unstoppable on attack. Physically anyway. Mentally, I'm getting more and more feeble. I'm still just average strength, no horns or claws. I'll never be the best blitzer in the league, the blitzer my team mates deserve. I'm not good enough yet. So I trained and I played and I risked my life and I trained and I played and I risked my life, and finally I flipped a switch and took my game to a new level. Jump up! Something a little special, takes the edge off the cost to the team's formation every time I pile on. But is it enough? I'm hogging the gametime, the plays, and it's hurting my team's development. Not enough guard, not enough stand firm. Sure, we're rising to the top of the league, but the better I get, the flimsier the rest of the team looks. The pressure builds and builds. I'm not good enough yet. So I trained and I played and I risked my life and I trained and I played and I risked my life, and finally I flipped a switch and took my game to a new level. Strength 4! I've taken this team to the top. We've won the championship, I've been an integral part of the success. The years of strength training have finally paid off. I'm as strong as a... as strong as a... a rookie black orc. Fuck. I'm not good enough yet.
  15. I do appreciate the sentiment, I'm just not sure what the question is.
  16. OCCupational Therapy The Halfling Hopeful Who ate all the pies? Who ate all the pies? You fat bastard! You fat bastard! You ate all the pies! I hear it every game, because blood bowl fans are unique and original individuals. Yeah, I've got more rolls than a bakery. It's necessary cushioning. Because my sin of gluttony isn't about food, it's about punishment. Do the maths. There's only two treemen, so if there's no merc to take the third spot on the line of scrimmage, a halfling has to. I'm that halfling. Really, my chant should go: Who took all the hits? Who took all the hits? You poor bastard! You poor bastard! You took all the hits! It's not so bad early in your career. The opponents aren't as big, as skillful, as deadly. But it can get pretty bad, pretty quick. Sure, when you're up against a good team there are mercs a-plenty, but if the first half goes badly and/or your team scores, duty may still come calling. You know, there's a lot to be said for not scoring against killer teams. Each TD means another turn on the line of scrimmage, and who needs that? Just play for time, stall it out, settle for a 0-0 draw and enjoy the post-match feast! Which brings us back to the other type of gluttony. To be fair, I have eaten a lot of pies. Mmm... pies Signed The anonymous halfling hopeful
  17. Welcome, fellow +10! Negotiations welcome, but the standard for having suitable availability is based on Euro timezones. That works for me because I can play matches early in the UTC+10 morning before starting work. You're added to the reserve list.
  18. Hell yeah! All the people claiming that pass has been nerfed into oblivion in BB2020 need to understand that if Khemri can pass, anyone can pass.
  19. A thro-ra with +MA/+AG? Elf off.
