Kjelstad Posted December 28, 2018 Posted December 28, 2018 I was looking at standings the other day and thought I had it figured out with Touchdowns then Casualties but after looking at Champ Tier I am assuming it is TD Difference and then Casualties? Awards 3 6 13 2 15 2 2

Least TDs conceded came to be? surprised to find it this way where most leagues go for the most TDs scored? I may of fallen foul to this but im not bitter, just interested in the thought process, if anyone can enlighten me Awards 4 6 2 2

Post has been edited. Every race can defend and to avoid receiving TD, not every race can score a lot. You won't find most casualties on the list either, it is a way for balancing the competition and... we are not like most leagues, we are THE LEAGUE! 4 Awards 2 2 2 4 2
raspel Posted October 2, 2020 Posted October 2, 2020 Quote A new tie-breaker has been added (before head-to-head). Not being a dummy team is better than being a dummy team. Reasoning: Dummy teams are replacements we use when someone drops out mid-season and we can't find a suitable reserve and they generally don't play any games from the point where they were added. As they by design don't play all games adding a check for that seems fair. Shouldn't this tie-breaker be even higher, probably №2 or №3? By the same reasoning: 1) dummy teams are not intended to promote anyway; 2) if they play less amount of matches, their TD difference and number of TD conceded will likely be better, than "normal" team's. Dummy teams do not play matches, all their games are going to be 2-1 losses (unless they face other dummy teams). It's different if the team that replaced a dropout plays games, then they count as a substitute team. This tie-breaker is for the non-playing teams only. They merge their results with the team they replace so in the official standings (my spreadsheet) every division has 10 teams with 9 games played. It's not so much promoting the dummy teams as not relegating someone else. A dummy team should never even be in contention for a promotion as all their games are losses. The team they replaced would have to have dominated the division for a dummy team to be in for a promotion. Awards 4 2 4 3 2 4 2 2
raspel Posted October 2, 2020 Posted October 2, 2020 Oh, thanks for clarification. I indeed mixed up terms, and thought as dummy teams about those substitute teams. Awards 3 3 2 9 3 4 2 2
james cook Posted March 11, 2021 Posted March 11, 2021 (edited) Aloha OCC fans , i would like understand strategy for Tie Break, why does "least TDs conceded" exist ? mostly "Head to Head" must be before in N°3 for memory : Order of tie-breakers within a division Points (classic) TD differential (classic) Least TDs conceded ?????? 0-0 is more fun than 3-3 , you're better when you scored nothing ? Head to Head (good) Wins (good) Random Method* (good) it's not good for speed and agile teams to reach OCC elite... Edited March 11, 2021 by james cook Awards 4 2 7 3 5
danton Posted March 12, 2021 Posted March 12, 2021 Agile teams have an unfair advantage when it comes to scoring a lot of TDs. Hence why good defending is valued more. Awards 2 3 2
Rymdkejsaren Posted March 12, 2021 Posted March 12, 2021 What danton says, but also, the two tie-breakers before kind of make you want to score TDs anyway, so it shouldn't be a problem? Scoring is still better when it gives you points or TD difference. The number of matches where the gameplay is actively and significantly affected by the third tie-breaker is going to be very small. Pidpad Posted March 12, 2021 Posted March 12, 2021 We decided that that was the way forward. TD diff generally benefits faster teams so to offset that we picked least TDs conceded to balance things a bit. It might be something we'll revisit with BB3 (need to know what options we get).
