Raziel Nosgoth
So for my sins in a past life I am UW coach and love it cos they such a crazy wacky team. Now my defensive play as improved dramatically but my main concern right now is I draw blanks in offence and it tends to stutter and crumble. I was just after some advice on ways to play offensively Thanks in advance Razz
 Awards
Borke
It depends a lot on a) what team you're playing against and b) what stage of development your team is at. At very low TV, the biggest assets you have going for you on offense are: Speed (against MA6 or lower teams), maneuverability (against any team that doesn't have much Tackle yet), a big guy as an anchor (against ST3 teams), and the desperation Throw Team Mate possibility. Against teams that are stronger than you, you should try to make the play wide, take your time when advancing, try to get the opponent to commit too heavily to one side, change flanks a few times if necessary, and when an opportunity comes up, make a strong move to one side that allows you to completely secure a side lane (so that ideally the opponent can't put more than one or two players in your straight path). Then hold that side ideally until it's time to score. Against teams that are faster and/or more agile than you, push forward steadily, use your Troll to tie up several of their players; you don't want to commit to any side, because the opponent will most likely be able to completely block your path with just 6 players if you are in a side lane. Try to cause attrition to the opponent and stay in the center, ideally at most 4-5 spaces from the end zone on the final turn, so that you have all the options of going left, right or center for the score, and the opponent doesn't have enough pieces to block all the possible paths. If everything is blocked, consider a play of handing of to a Goblin who can dodge through the defense (a risky play if you don't have Two Heads yet, but still better than Throw Team Mate). At higher TV, the basic strategies outline above are still valid, but you need to consider a few additional factors. Maneuverability becomes a much bigger asset as you get more players with Two Heads. On the other hand, the more your opponents get Tackle and/or Diving Tackle (and possibly also Tentacles), the more they can restrict your movement. This means that sniping the opponent's players that have such skills becomes more important, and you should always look for opportunities to take them out with your killers (which you should have by now, always try to have both Blitzers developed as killers, you need the redundancy). Lack of strength and Guard becomes a big problem at higher TV. Teams with ST3 across the board but easy access to Guard will suddenly be able to bully you around, which makes it much more important to go wide against them and try to isolate their Guard pieces. The importance of Two Heads in such matchups cannot be stressed enough, because you need the ability to suddenly concentrate your team to one area of the pitch after you've made the opponent spread their team, and this maneuvre usually involves a lot of dodging. I find that this is one of the strongest and most satisfying moves that Underworld can make, and there are hardly any other teams that can do it as well (with the exception perhaps of Kislev): Open just a tiny hole in the opponent's line, and then move your whole team through it - basically going through the opponent, instead of around. I'm sure I forgot a thing or two, but this should give you a few good ideas for your offense.
 Awards 3 3
