Rymdkejsaren 2,032
Hey everyone! I want to do an informal query to our coaches about how they ended up playing here! Did you discover us in the old BB1 general chat? Were you recruited by a friend? Was it a mention by a streamer (and if so, which one?) Mainly I'm just curious, but it will also help us know what to focus on in the future when we want to increase coach numbers. So tell us a little bit about it. Myself, I had seen people talk about various player-run leagues in the old BB1 in-game chat, but had avoided them with the biased idea that they would be poorly managed. I finally flipped when I played a really friendly and decent coach in a match and they recommended the OCC (and vouched for me, since that was a thing back then), though sadly I can't for the life of me remember who that coach was. Anyway, I started playing in BB1 Season 14 and in S16 I was talked down by my admins and division coaches from quitting the league mid-season, which would likely have earned me a well-deserved ban. I suppose that's a good thing in retrospect, because I went on to redsuit and then informally volunteer to run a test league in BB2 -- which earned me an invite to the tailor for a green suit and the task of setting up the OCC proper in BB2.
 Awards 2 3 2 3 2 2
Gallows Bait 157
When I joined bbtactics.com forums back in 2011 a lot of the community there were already active in OCC so that's how I found out about it.
BallztotheWalla 138
Spun into a drunk verbalHM with a min/maxed undead team back in bb1 and while I was POMB’ing his skinks to death he was so kind to tell me that I should come play in a real league so i could learn that I wasn’t hot shit..
 Awards 3 2 2
Ratamo 492
I were just casually playing CCL while i met this weird chap who beat my kislevs with some anime themed wood elves. (What a weeb, am i right?) We chatted there and had good time (not in the match, he totally diced me). So he told me that if i wanted to play in "more strucktured" league i should join OCC. I wanted to ask what is this "OCC" you are talking bout but T16 turnover made that quite hard. Well as i am quite crafty and know how to google i found out this place. But forums were down and i couldnt find way to signup so i joined another league meanwhile. Time passed and when i finally found my way here season were underway and i had to wait for next season to start . Finally on Season 15 i managed to start my OCC journey. Same season i joined fluff team mid-season to have a chance on winning anything. After my first season i were lured by power of the whip and i were too weak to resist it. And kids, that's how i turned into redsuit. So basically this is my third season even tho i know you all feel that i've been here for so long. So thanks @Bouffon, you weeb. You predisposed me to everyone in here.
 Awards 2
Bouffon 439
Thanks @Ratamo. I have tried to mention OCC to my CCL opponents if they have been polite enough and there has been a natural opportunity to do so. This applies especially to new coaches. I spot those because I always check my opponent with Spike's s!coach command. As for myself. Well, I bought the game because my gaming group decided to start its own Blood Bowl league. I got hooked fast and decided to search for proper leagues after CCL proved to be, well, CCL. I stumbled upon someone mentioning OCC as really nice league in some forums, likely bbtactics, and decided to join it.
 Awards
Pidpad 1,366
Found OCC on the cyanide forums and snuck in during the first season as the very last reserve.
 Awards 4 3 2 2
Doomy77 1,844
Am I the longest-serving active OCC member remaining? I joined in 2009, before season 1 of BB1. I think I saw an article somewhere saying an official PC adaptation of Blood Bowl was in the works, and signed up here after searching for a related community.
 Awards 4
Smiling Tom 1,088
I was playing in a BB1 Spanish league with @Viajero and @Aguelo, and they suggested to join this madhouse.
 Awards 2
danton 229
Joined in season 2 of BB1. Cannot really remember how I found the league, but it may well have been via the Cyanide forums. Played a lot in BB1 and then moved over to tabletop rather than BB2 (mainly due to work and not having a decent pc). Only installed BB2 this year when the pandemic hit and rejoined the fun in BB2!
AllyRdr 631
BB1 General chat I think. I vaguely remember asking about leagues, and Dode pointed me here in time for season 13 BB1

EvilSmoothie 60
Don't really know... Through some friends during bb1 I guess as I've always somehow vaguely "known" about OCC being a league and all that. That way when I actually started branching out from only playing in friend leagues in bb2 OCC was the natural place to go.
 Awards 3 2

Pidpad 1,366
I think RayXXX and Verbal_HM are to blame for quite a few of the coaches around.
 Awards 4 3 2 2

I think i served a little longer but less active than u due to my sabbatical in recent years. I was recruited by Zephire during beta testing BB1. I had played BB for years and he spent a game explaining the interface with me. We got on really well and he invited me to this league. I eventually signed up 14th or 15th the same day as dode I remember. I think i played 27 seasons in BB1 with my Lizards then my Amazons (who I think are still the only ones to hit top tier) and finally my Hobgoblins. I then hit a digital brick wall before the move to BB2 and stuck to TT tournament play (where I still got to meet plenty of OCC coaches). Lockdown forced me back before last season. So I bought BB2 cheap....am just taking care to only play my OCC games so as to avoid previous pitfalls.
 Awards 2

Lol Ray and I used to do a skit in the old BB1 lobby pretending we didn't know one another and recruit each other to the league in loud "voices" so as to attract others.
 Awards 2
Hobnail 1,253
In fact the best thing about this league has been enticing people from it back into the tabletop tournament scene and spending real time with people from the best community I could have hoped to find. Shoutouts to that: @Pidpad @danton @dode @AllyRdr @Netsmurf @zulu501 @Hawca @Be4ch @Zunk@AndyDavo and so so many more. If the world ever self-rights, please try it out for size. I'll be happy to buy u a drink.
 Awards 2
raspel 40
In 2015 I watched a streamer (@Talissera), who played in OCC (BB1). So, when I decided to add one extra BB1 tournament, I chose OCC.
 Awards

Alessus 66
I believe that I caught wind of OCC while I was playing my first season of Ukbbl, if I remember correctly from a forum post discussing the possible restructuring of the Ukbbl league format and OCC was mentioned as possible format to emulate. Being a clever boy with access to Google I was lead onto the league forums and since this was the time when I was all hyped about playing in perpetual leagues, which I had only recently discovered, instead of just spinning in the public ones I decided to give it a go. Then I hopped on to Ventrilo and been stuck ever since.
Nateguy75 36
I heard from reddit, as I was looking for a league which would be primarily in UTC 1 or 2 evening hours. Relocation with work into Europe meant giving up my old table top group, so a league was the next best thing.
 Awards 2

Bantha 1,020
I was in a Swedish league in Fumbbl, and played there with @Tribble who asked me if I was interesting trying out this new OCC. I was but I missed the start and have not missed a season since BB1 S2 started. Also manage to join this Scottish team in who I supported TT games in Denmark/Copenhagen which is nearby me. Managed this due to OCC @Doomy77 it was a blast! Thanks both of you!
 Awards 9 3 2 5 3 2 2
