Do you have to move?

So it occurred to me that while skipping turns in a manner to soft concede is obviously against the rules (and boring to boot) what if you have a defence set up that you don't want to move because your opponent hasn't done anything that will make you need to move? Can you just pass your turn in that situation without going against the rules or do you have to move something just because?

Staying put for tactical reasons isn't against the rules.
