I had this happen in my match today.

I was moving my second or third player, when the game locked up for a few seconds.

When it came back, I was unable to do anything else with my players.

I could left click to select them, but if I right clicked to block or move it would just deselect them.

I paused and unpaused, and alt tabbed in and out of the game, but in the end all I could do was click end turn.

My opponent played his turn, and when it got back to my next turn it was working again.

Has anyone else had this, and is there a fix for it?

Is there any etiquette for this situation?

Not my opponents fault my game glitched, but he did get a lot of free hits and an extra foul in.

Should have had a 3 turn drive to try and equalise, instead this totally fucked the end of the first half for me.

Thinking about it now, I should have perhaps force quit the game.

I don't know how reliable reconnection is, or if the turn timer is paused though?

I haven't encountered this exact bug, I think, so I can't tell you if there is a certain "magic" combination of things you can do to "unlock" the game from that state.

However, forcing a relaunch of the game (with ALT+F4 or similar) is probably the way to go here. When one player disconnects, the turn timer does indeed stop (and in my experience as the player on the other end, the turn timer even goes back a few seconds when the other player re-connects). And I personally have not had any problem re-connecting (though of course there is no such thing as a 100% guarantee).

One last thing: if all else fails, i.e. the re-connect doesn't work, and you are perpetually stuck, you can always ask your opponent if they are ok to reset the match, too. It sounds like you were talking with your opponent, so it never hurts to ask. They might say no, of course, in which case you are where you started, but if they are ok with it, resetting the match might be the best solution. I would say that the etiquette doesn't require your opponent to agree to a reset, especially if a large part of the match was already played, but a lot of coaches still will agree (time permitting).

Thanks for the reply.

If it happens again (this was the first time I ever had it) I will pop a quick message in chat and quit out.

My best guess is after the lock up I ended up in some temporary desync state with the server.

So I could still view the game state, but not do anything to affect it.

Don't know what it was that caused my CPU to spike, the only other main thing I had running was spotify in the background.

@Borke and anyone else who might be curious.

I had this happen again in a match today, and quitting and restarting, even rebooting my PC wouldn't fix it.

I found out what caused it though, and it is my brain.

Right clicking always deselects and left clicking selects and issues commands.

I don't know why I switched what I was doing mid match, but muscle memory from some other game must have taken over.
