About the BB3 meta

Dear OCC Crowd,

 

after a few years off the hallowed OCC grounds I am considering coming back to play with you fine folks. Is there any resource I can look at to see how the meta has changed? POMB still breaking the game? Oneturners still making people angry?

 

I know I should just go and read the manual, but I am a lazy bum.

I don't know of any reading material you can reference but my personal takes are as follows:

POMB is none existent because they made the new version of the PO skill pretty damn bad. Elves generally got worse because now there is a dedicated passing stat and most elves only pass on 4+, you don't get a +1 for quick pass and the scatter for passing is worse. Obviously this affects other teams too, but elves I think are the worst affected. Currently OCC does not have an overabundance of ClawMB either as most teams that'd have access to such skills are not yet that developed and there aren't that many of them in the league at the moment at least (haven't actually looked at the numbers so take that claim with bit of extra salt).

 

As Borke mentioned, Orcs are doing pretty well at the moment and I'd say other strong teams are Undead, Necro and Skaven.

Thank you! Has the 2-1 grind been removed by 'anti-stalling' events?

Not really, it's only 1 event out of several and even then it's not even guaranteed to happen. The fact that you can use multiple rerolls during your turn now does mean that 1turner success rates have increased so theoretically at least more teams have a real chance of a 2-2 result.

Players can have a max MA of 9 now, so there are no natural one turners.  So you at least have a chance to setup to make them all difficult now.

After further scrutiny not much really seems to have changed, game wise. Same concepts, same tactics. The only skill that I am actually curious to see in place at high TV is Defensive, the other new entries seems more fanciful than useful. But I really like the new advancement process.

 

Will probably give it a try :)
