I have been away from BB for a while - but considered coming back for next season. I just bought BB3 to familiarise myself with the new UI and controls (not liking it). I was more concerned with the changes made to WE (the only team I have somewhat learnt how to play). A seperate passing skill. Leap chance reduced by tacklezones. It seems to make a huge impact to the advantage of WE needed to offset their high vulnerability. Are they still viable in leauge format? What are good alternatives?

They are less good than they were and you now need the thrower if you want a passing game.

The up side from the rule change is you get more cash so it is easier to replace all the dead players.

Also you can use multiple rerolls in a turn so 1 turning is easier and if you reroll the leap you can also reroll the block.

Also there are far less ST4 ballcarriers to face.

You can still win games with them they are just less likely to win the OCC.

Of the other AG based teams Dark Elves lose the least as they rarely passed the ball anyway , pro elves have the same issue with missing leap and Rats gain from the extra cash and multiple rerolls in a turn but lost the MA 10 nat 1 turner.

Gutters just take 2 heads instead of leap.

Both AV7 elves and rats ability to play high risk defense, pop the ball, then pick it up and pass it out has been reduced a lot.

I really miss being able to throw the ball from a gutter runner to another gunner runner a lot. I don't feel the change on offense that much but it's a huge change on defense.

Hey, You know Im a long time woodelf coach and they are just not the same.  The cage diving is gone, but you can always dodge into a cage on a 5+ with rr if its desperate. The killer is only the thrower can pass reliably.  It really slows the team on defense, you cannot grab the ball and whisk it away like you could before.

Also av7 seems so much more vulnerable now than it did before.  Ive had good results with darkelves in the resurrection tournament but all my wins are 1-0 and 2-1.

Thanks for the input - trying to learn and test my Dark Elf skills in the ladder - but a very different game from playing WE (which I loved). But I can see some potential in the DEs. Hope to cya all next season....

i've seen pro elves do good in TT tournaments because of the ability to burn a silly amount of rr in a turn, but in a continuous league? A lot tougher. TBH I can only see them work as gang foulers because all have access to Sneaky Git and Dirty Player. Wood elves feel worst because of the change to Leap.

If BB3 had Kislev they would really be terrible.  Can't leap into cages with any reliability and catchers can't get the ball out as easy anymore!

In NAF Slann (Kislev) all have pogostick, so they work mostly like before.
