Many o' ye be knowin' I be not th' greatest fan o' paintin' competitions. However this year, in an attempt t' see many Corsair themed teams, I be runnin' a best converted/painted competition – th' best lookin' Corsair themed team will win a prize! What form that prize will take be still bein' determined, but it should be cool and probably piratey! So get thinkin' and start convertin' and paintin' :) Anyone that comes to Pieces o' Eight dressed as a pirate (Swashbuckling Corsair, not a Somali goon or software pirate) will have 1 Fan FactARRGGHH added to their roster for free :) Plus bags of gold maybe up for the taking If ye 'ave any questions just ask. 3. 12 with 7 skills vs 13 with 6. Depends if you think the 13th man is worth more than the skilled up player. It gives an advantage on the pitch for the cost of a bench warmer. There are advantages to both.
  4. I was reading the thread and was thinking to myself that if you are set on taking Hthark then Lucky Stars is more suited, and then I got to your last post :) I assume this set up is for Gert? Have you considered the use of Mercenaries? If you are happy with 2 Rerolls a Norse team can get: 2 Berserkers (Mighty Blow or Piling On) 2 Ulfwereners (Block) 1 Runner (Dodge) 6 Linemen (Dirty Player) 1 Merc Snowtroll with Mighty Blow 2 Rerolls 20k left over to party with. I've seen, and used myself, similar set ups and it works by simply removing your opponent's players.
  5. People making only 1 day is more common that you think. The TO should have a spare player (usually himself) to cover odd numbers.
  6. Temp any of you fine gents into coming to this one? Still a few space left.
  7. Myself and the wifelet (Tempest) will be at Gert. The organiser is putting us up for the night.
  8. Actually I'm listening to the entire album. Cracking stuff.
  9. Double wammy of an awesome song and a trailer for CP2077 that might come out one day
  10. Woo! I ended with 123 with Ogres using Brick & Grotty. Lesson here - dont
  11. I've got Orges, so that spot might be contested....
  12. I've seen and played against that collection. The sack of mast sprues is, along with the secret hidden NAF dice, his retirement fund
  13. I'll be there. Though not an active coach, right now, apparently I still coutn as an OCCer I tend to loiter around the middle tables these days.
  14. Cheers, Steve :) That's my thinking er.... ok, boss B)
  15. Havent played in OCC for a couple of seasons, so not sure if I still count as an OCC'er, but I'll be there, captaining Team Exiles
  16. yep :) We had 14 turns of scrapping on the LOS with neither side gaining much in advantage. On his turn 16 he scores to go 1-0 up. I have one turn and with a team full of side stepping skinks a one turn chain is doable. But against an LOS of 2 Mummies and Setekh it was going to be hard. He sets up to counter it, just in case, but favouring one side of the pitch. I set up to give it a try. The kick is rolled and someone says, "A riot would help." A riot was rolled. My entire team floods the clear side of the pitch and the undead couldnt really stop them. A hand off and GFI to score and draw the match.
  17. Bubba all done and got to meet and play 20Phoenix. Apologies, old chap, that draw was a robbery.
  18. Like with all things in life, you get what you pay for and Avast is free.... Saying that, I use Microsoft Security Essentials (also free) and it works ok for me. Never had any issues.
  19. Following on from the round up thread for 2014, I thought I'd share my travel plans for 2015. Welsh Open 31Jan/1Feb- I had planned to go to this, but the forces conspired against me and stopped me going :( Bubba Bowl 28 Feb - One day, 4 games. South of Bristol on a farm - with added cow antics ARBBL 28/29 March - Andover, for me this was the first local TT I went to, so a must in my calendar. Crumb Bowl 11 April - Another one dayer, this one is geared towards nwecomers and sold out very quickly. Birthday Bowl 2 May - A one off affair, the organiser's birthday party. Happens to be on my birthday weekend as well :) NAFC 23/24 May - The NAFs flagship event in Nottingham. Good times will be had, Black Russians will be drunk, Blood Bowl will be played :) Cake Bowl 6/7 June - A skill-tastic weekend. 12 skill ups available and spamming allowed! Speedbowl 14 June - The first of my own events this year. 5 games with a strict 2 minute timer. Gert Bowl 25/26 June - A weekend away in Bristol - may even play some games of Blood Bowl. Thrud Bowl 8/9 August - Charity driven event, there are usually lots of antics and a charity auction. I tend to end up reffing, not playing, at this one. (Dates havent been officially announced yet, but I got a guy on the inside who told me the dates.) Albion Coast Cup 29/30 August - The UKs only progression tourney. Dispite reservations, it was fun the last couple of years. Exiles Open 12/13 September - My second event, focused on Star Players - everyone must bring at least one :) Exebowl 17 October - Another one dayer in Exeter, Close enough for me to make the trip. The NAF World Cup 6/7/8 Novermber - The big one in Lucca Italy. Again I was supposed to be cutting down on BB weekends this year.... Where's everyone else going to this year?
  20. Ogres already do have Thick Skull.... Half price bribes for Underworld (so 50K like Goblins).
  21. Just be aware that it hasnt been updated since 7th Sept 2014. I think DoubleSkulls does it every 6 months.
