How Are Your Vamp Teams Doing?

MD3 I faced Norse.. both with one rental player, landing on 11...

Looks quite bad to start with.

I played Safe... and after killing his MY Warewulf (apo saved the day of course), I could foul his excellent runner with str4 and move 8 to kingdom come.

But that did not happen of course.. A KO after 2 attempts was the result.

And then move safety to score my with my frenzy vamp to reach.

Whoop Whoop, 3 turns left, and two thralls left and tree vamps.

But Nuffle laughed at the feeble attempt to assume a ag4 vamp might make the catch , so he handed over a 1, rr 1.

So, well.... thanks my lord.

Proper fecked, nothing to do, and I was pissed but Norse did not manage to score.

Actually failed a pass.

And Norse gopt all back, sure babes helped one back but the vamps had one out and two left.

Starting 11 (still Full team whoop whoop, spank you very much) vs 8 (4 thralls & 4 Vamps)

2 Was lost directly on LOS first turn and then we were 6.

One was snacked and then we were 7.

One was bashed out and then we were 6.

We started with 5 and managed to get a pow, fell the mighty runner and MB did nothing more. The Surf killed my new Vamp with MB of course.. what else to expect. Apo said MNG, and luck just shined as a blessing and regen saved him.

We were then 3, and Norse scored.

Setup we were 4, I did not even bother to try to score with 2 turns left. I tried a pass.

What did you say?

I heard Nuffle....

Oh crap..

Lust, rr Lust, Bite for BH, One MB vamp and my passer in.

The blitz did nothing and bang he was out, and bash Ag5 was downed and fouled t 16.

I had one Vamp left.. My Old passer..

So I tried to help the opp by passing over head, but interception did not work either.

Some days, you should not even get out of bed.

Lets see if Vader survives next game, I have my doubts.

See you around, but not much longer if Nuffle continues.

It is best to take a season off if things get too much.

I had a frustrating game against @Mongloom today.  four damn POWs.  And I am not even sure he saw my Diving Tackle.  He never saw it in action.  His Egyptian Elves just dodged away.  luckily AG2 couldn't pass on T16 though so 2-1 win and no longer in last place.

This is the second game this season I caught the ball on a blitz and did not score.

I have a level up blodger.  I am thinking I want Strip on a vamp then Juggernaut.  I do only have two tackle vamps though

Mr Clean is my bald ball hawk for now with AG+, Tackle, Pro.

Fake Betty has Tackle, Side Step, Jump Up.

Sexy Bantha just scores a lot once the ball is out; AG+, MA+, Side Step.  Not far from Legend.  Could take Tackle

My marker has Stand Firm, Diving Tackle, Jump up and has a long way to go for Legend.  Will take Tackle.  Not this season

The Freight Train is close to level 6 so could take Tackle soon.

Strip Ball Vampire?  Thoughts?

I am against such a specialised vampire. The best you should get is block+tackle vampire which gives you a decent chance of stripping the ball.

Why so? I think that speed 6 will make it rather difficult for that specialised vampire to be where you need them most. The teams that do not have sure hands usually have above average speed, so changing sides won't be difficult for them, while your vampire may well be stuck or munching on a thrall when you will be running from side to side.

Also, you might want to consider some MB on your tacklers as they are the ones that you will want to blitz with most of the time.

On a side note...

My perfect vampire would look like this:

Block

Dodge

Tackle

Jump up (you need mobility and almost-free blocks)

Sidestep/Sure Feet/MB

Diving tackle/Guard/Piling On/Juggernaut

I use to miss DT pieces, but it was not one of those... Where did I dodge through your DT piece? It was a fun match, quite frustrating but very nice to be played!

Recovering the ball on your offensive drive without using the wizard, working hard to open a way to go through (out from your DT piece, could not avoid your tackle one though) and failing a 3+ dodge just to give you the ball to score easily was not my plan!!! The blitz right after killed my chances of victory as I was forced to use the wizard but... I have really enjoyed the great challenge!!

Once you ran out of thralls you did a great management of the ONES, rolled some but not for the BL!!!

Great match my friend, best of the lucks for the rest of the season!!

You can see the VOD at my twitch channel... but I suppose it will be muted due to music :D

I had and saw it very useful to have the strip B skill.

Vamps v. Dwarves won 4-1. Game was a relatively average game of high TV Vamp nonsense. Average bloodlusts, some of which were saved by pro. Gazes worked quite nicely, and I had a wizard for the game. He managed to cas > no regen my two MB pieces, and played well throughout, but he had a deathroller + bribe stadium, and my DP cas'd a guard piece off the pitch, and managed some key stuns.

Turns out MA8 Vamps are fantastic! Speaking of which:

Lord Irarak (MA8 Blodgevamp) leveled up! I'm seriously considering giving him Sprint, for one turns. Getting 3 pushes as opposed to 2 isn't extremely difficult, but 2-push one turns are much more reliable than 3-push one turns. Should I go with another skill instead, though? SS is probably more useful than Sprint in the majority of situations, and could help with one-turns as well. Any other skills I should consider?

Only if you have sure feet, you need SS first anyhow.

SS + Tackle is what My Legend had.

I would go with sure feet first. Having a one-turner is nice, but that does not add anything in a normal drive unless you want to sprint 3 times...

Yeah I think I'll be going SS first, for the logic that it's more useful during the normal drive, and then probably Sure Feet as his last level. I was thinking of Gutter Runners, since you give them sprint first after they have MA10, so that a natural one turn is possible. But with vamps, reducing it from 3 pushes to 2 pushes plus another GFI probably isn't as useful as having a built-in RR for 2 GFIs you need to take anyway.

As we play Vamps.. we should minimize the amount of rolls not increasing them.

And the lure will be there.. only more step.

Famous last words.

MD5.  I got some Nurgle that shut me out last season.  Murder murder murder, kill kill kill!  Two dead thralls lots of BH.  6 of 14 players left to end the game after he fouled the MA out of my newb Vampire.  Luckily apo said "no, that isn't how a foot goes on, let me fix it!" .

His 12 SPP came from killing my team.   My 12 SPP came from one injury, one pass and three touchdowns.  Bantha was immune to lightning and is now 174/176.  3-0-2 after the terrible start

I’ve always enjoyed your style of reporting. “Alas and alack! Woe! Misery! Oh I won by the way.”

Lost 4 - 3 to the wood elfs.

That was a fairly equal match, albeit I lost my only tackle vampire on the third turn. From there on it was a one way trip where I chose to deliver as many td's as I can.

Now I have 3 +agility vampires and 1 +movement. I feel like I am really lacking some tackle and diving tackle...for those dodgy bastards.

Three AG 5 is amazing.  I had 3 of them on my BBT team but you need a tackle piece once you get there. I only had one.

Even tackle on an ag piece is nice. Not what I would think to pick but my OCC tackle vamp rolled ag.  Dodging by a player on a blitz is really nice.  5th skill I took pro and it works well for gazing and rerolling a blocks.

i had a lot of opportunities today but when I did roll dice today my opponent came back and rolled better.  1-1 tie.  The game started with me removing two players on T1 but they were my own.  I still threw a pass and watched a legend score on T2 but that was the end of it.

I should have rolled lust and marked his ball carrier with a diving tackle piece turn 15 but he had a lot of tackle around and i gave up.  (failed lust and still had two dodges and two GFI in snow) Then totally blew the one turn TD attempt.  Put the wrong side stepper in the spot.

But speaking of legends and side steppers, he rolled a 9.

15 Bantha Vampire 7 4 5 8 240.000 174 BloodLust.pngHypnoticGaze.pngRegeneration.pngIncreaseMovement.pngBlock.pngIncreaseAgility.pngDodge.pngSideStep.png

So what is the final skill?

I would go with sure feet. He is your only +speed guy, so I would maximise his ability to score.

Or, you could go nuts and choose to have sprint, which would allow you to think about 1 TTD.

Yes, I am obsessed with running, but that is just because I see how vampires lack that 1-2 speed on top of their 6.

Sure feet feels like something I would use but tempt me to push my luck more.  I do that a lot though.

Sprint feels like it would be last resort and somewhat situational.  I would have to learn how to one turn but with five players left on T16 it doesn't usually feel as if it is an option.

I am considering tackle and pro.  and sure feet.  What else?

Leap. I know that most people believe that you do not need it if u play it right, but remember those games where u r left with a handful of vampires, one thrall and not so many turns to score. Leap can help u penetrate defences and run away, steal the crowded ball, avoid tackle and diving tackle of those bloody dwarfs surrounding you.

Jump up is not bad either as it makes you a constant mobile threat unless they stun or outright cas u.

Game day decision and went with Pro.  I used it twice.  I figured he would not be on his back a lot.  It paid off.

I played those dwarves with the STR runners everyone hates.  We started with a blitz and then rolled a lot of ones.  It let him score on 8.

I had a pretty good thing going up the side but he collapsed on my receivers so it took 3 turns to score.  Then we kicked deep to try and isolate his STR runners.  Some back and fourth with the ball and then on 15 we got it free, threw a pass and ran down the pitch.  I just didn't check the range on his STR5 Tackle runner.  Why did I think they move 5?  I still had four rolls left.  A GFI would have given us a very good chance at a win.

Stupid 1-1 tie.  I made a bonehead play the first time we played too, but I was in T6.  I still had a chance to win this one but thrall could not dodge
